France Transit Visa Checklist

VISA NOTES & FEES

1. Passport: Original Passport with validity of minimum three months and minimum two blank pages for visa stamps. a) Copy of visa of Final destination Please note a) Passports issued beyond 10 years will not be accepted by the Embassy b) Handwritten passports will not be accepted. c) Passports with manual observation will be accepted provided that applicant must submit the copies of the pages on which the observation have been made. d) Attach all your old passports (if any)
2. Schengen Visa Application Form : With immediate effect, France visa application has to be filled online through the following link https://france-visas.gouv.fr/ . Applicant has to take the printout of the completed form and sign the same. Please note : Applicant mobile number should be mentioned in visa form as Embassy / Consulate can contact the applicant at any point of time during visa processing
3. Photo Specification: Two recent passport size coloured photographs with semi-matt finish, 70% - 80% face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm) Please note: Photograph should not be more than 3 months old,scanned/stapled and should not be used in any of the previous visas
4. Covering Letter : Covering Letter from the applicant on company’s letter head stating his name, designation, passport number,purpose and duration of visit. The letter should be addressed to– The Consulate General of France, Mumbai
5. Airline Reservation : Ticket Itinerary Please Note: The travel itinerary should be after 12-15 days from the date of submission of application.
6. Passport Collection Process: With immediate effect Consulate has announced that representatives cannot collect the documents on behalf of applicant from France Visa Application Centre except in following conditions: a) Immediate family member(that is Parents, Children, Spouse) b) One member of a family group collecting the passports of the whole family. c) A person collecting on behalf of Government officials if authorized on the Government letter head or department. If any of the above comes for passport collection they need to carry the following documents: a) Original Government ID card b) Original ICR c) Original authorization letter from applicant However, applicants who do not wish to collect their documents in person & whose documents cannot be collected by one of the above, will get their passports back by courier at an additional cost of Rs. 300/- to the dispatch address mentioned in the Courier Form & Covering-Letter which has to be submitted along with the visa application.
7. Please Note: a) In case no specific address is mentioned on the Covering-Letter and courier form, the passport will be sent to the address mentioned on the Visa Application Form. b) As applications are being accepted only through appointment, we advise you to send your application well in advance so that we can arrange for an appointment for timely processing of your visa. c) On the day of the appointment of submission of documents at VFS, a letter mentioning the appointment date d) Consulate will proceed with a temporary suspension of biometrics for all visa applicants and for all categories of visas (short- stay and long- stay) e) If documents are missing for all the regular applications, then the application will not be accepted at the France Visa Application Center, Mumbai. And it will take 7 -10 working days for the processing of the visa.
8. Indian nationals going to any European Union country including UK and Ireland, Canada, USA and Japan are exempted from airport transit visa if they hold valid visa and return ticket for one of these countries.
